Casual Food and Beverage Attendant

This is a casual position with flexible hours.

Role Summary

Our small casual dining establishment needs superstar Restaurant & Bar Service Attendant to take over the operations of our food and beverage service. The successful candidate will have some hospitality and customer service experience. We’re looking for a creative, motivating professional who doesn’t mind contributing to outstanding customer service and delivering food and beverages to our customers. You will report to the Directors. The job requires some nights and weekends each month based on event bookings. 

To deliver quality service the role will include:

  • Deliver prepared food and beverage to patrons and clean tables

  • Setting up and clearing down after service

  • Provide a level of service that exceeds customer expectations

  • Ensure Responsible Service of Alcohol is followed 

  • Process customer payments

  • A creative, motivating professional who doesn’t mind contributing to keeping the venue clean and tidy, delivering food when necessary, prepare drinks and serve

  • Respond personally to guest questions and queries 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willing to work a flexible schedule

  • Handle minor customer complaints and concerns that do not need the intervention of a manager

  • Experience with delegating tasks and maintaining fast speed of service

  • Experience in working in a small and close knit team

About the Candidate

  • Focussed and able to follow direction

  • An understanding of service skills and the ability to prioritise guest requests

  • Works well under pressure and able to meet deadlines 

  • Adaptable and keen to learn

  • Team player with a can-do attitude

  • Capable of building effective relationships with guests and staff

  • Prior experience in an hospitality and events environment an advantage

  • Genuine interest in food and beverage

  • Exceptional communication and presentation

  • Available and willing to work a rotating roster including weekends, public holidays

Key Selection Criteria

  • Hospitality experience desired

  • A qualification related to event coordinator or hospitality is desirable

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol training

  • The capacity to travel to and from the facility located east of the township of Dookie.

Other information

Rye at Tallis is open to the public Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This position is a casual position and includes shifts from Thursday - Sunday with the option for evening work. 

One weekend (Saturday and Sunday) a month can be negotiated to allow a healthy work/life balance. Rye at Tallis is closed for the month of January.

All staff must sign off on and work under a code of conduct.

Kitchen Manager

Our small casual dining establishment needs a Kitchen Manager  to take over the operations of our kitchen including food and beverage service. The successful candidate will have hospitality, food prep and management experience. We’re looking for a creative, motivating professional who doesn’t mind contributing to prep work or delivering food when necessary. You will report to the Directors. The job requires some nights and weekends each month based on event bookings.  

To deliver quality service the role will include:

  • Assist with supplier orders and inventory for kitchen, menu and catering needs

  • Lead day to day food offerings when in charge

  • Order supplies, food and ingredients based on demand

  • Hire and train kitchen staff in specific stations, and cross-train as necessary

  • Maintain inventory levels and conduct full weekly inventory

  • A creative, motivating professional who doesn’t mind contributing to prep work or delivering food when necessary, but who won’t be afraid to delegate

  • Deliver prepared food and beverage to patrons and clean tables

  • Assist the Directors in offering event packages for smaller - large groups 

  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

  • Schedule and oversee necessary maintenance and repairs on kitchen appliances

  • Assist the Directors with menu changes and adjustments based on seasonal availability

  • Handle minor customer complaints and concerns that do not need the intervention of a manager

  • Keep kitchen and venue clean and tidy at all times and follow opening and closing procedures 

  • Ensure food safety for all prep and service is followed 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Willing to work a flexible schedule

  • Experience with delegating tasks and maintaining fast speed of service

  • Experience in working in a small and close knit team
